I draw my inspiration from theatrical gowns of taffeta and velvet as well as from my garden that is full of flowers and beautiful trees. I try to bring the lushness of the folds of material and exoticness of the flowers into my pots. I turn the shapes into clay and use oxides to bring out the definition of the forms. The pots are highly decorated but always functional. Functional sculptures. I hope to bring pleasure to the eye, which, I hope, makes using the pot more enjoyable.I use porcelain clay and throw the pots on the wheel and then decorate with thin slabs and coils. The clay is very white and fine so the glazes appear translucent which give the pots lightness and movement.
