While interested in all aspects of woodturning, my current focus is combining uncomplicated, balanced form with natural edges, knots, holes, bark inclusions as well as the effects of fungal and insect acEvity. I allow the piece of wood I am going to turn dictate the finished form rather than start out with a preconceived idea. I find that the most difficult and awkward looking pieces produce the most striking end results. Allowing green and semi dry pieces to season naturally adds texture as well as another interesEng dimension to the form.My work essenEally celebrates the imperfecEons of wood as features of a beautiful natural material, rather than as defects.I have been a professional woodworker for 48 years, aUer serving an apprenEceship as a carpenter and joiner in the 1960’s. Since then I have been working from my own workshop at Ashburton producing bespoke joinery, furniture, architectural, funcEonal and decoraEve turned work. My work has been exhibited at:The Chapel Gallery, Hannah’s Seale HayneTAAG Gallery in TeignmouthWood show at DelamoreFunky Aardvark Gallery, Chester and TeignmouthThe Tin Shed Studio Xmas Sale !I participate at my workshop during Devon Open Studios
