Diana Tingley is a contemporary conceptual artist and through her practice seeks to distill aspects of today's world and our relationship with it. Work tends to be multi-layered in terms of concept, process and visual imagery. Her new collection of ceramics is part-sculptural, part-traditional and makes use of marine-related imagery - inspired by finds on the beach, web-trawling and her previous life as a fisheries economist - to express ideas of stillness and pause in today’s busy world. Simple ceramic forms such as pots and plaques are decorated using crystal glazes, oxides, sgraffito and transferred imagery.
