Heather Irvine's painting style is impressionistic; large blocks of colour and loose brushwork allow the working process and artist to be seen, emotion and sense of place is paramount rather than hair by hair detail. An animal’s gesture, a colour combination, a memory, small initial idea sketches put down quickly in charcoal lead to larger works in oils. Heather has exhibited with SWLA, The Society of Equestrian Artists, award winner with NEWA, in 2012 was overall winner BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year and is a winning finalist for David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year at the Mall Galleries, London.
