When I left school I wanted to study art at the local college but my dad thought it would be best if I got a real job.  A few 'real jobs' later and having seen my children fly the nest I decided it was time to start painting!  In the meantime I had used my artistic flair in decorating wedding and celebration cakes, sculpture and on-glaze china painting – mainly for family and friends.I took the plunge into selling my art 3 years ago and have proved to be popular selling regularly in Seaton, Exmouth and the Isle of Barra.  I have won several awards including the Channel View Cup for the most popular painting in the Annual Exmouth Art  Exhibition in 2 of the last 3 years. From home it’s a 10 minute walk to the magical Exe Estuary.  The view across the estuary is always changing and every sunset is different.  The East Devon coast is a favourite location of mine and this features a lot in my paintings. Most of which convey something of the rich variety of plants that can be found around us. I also paint on the Outer Hebrides, particularly the islands of Barra and Vatersay where flowers are in such abundance –. These islands  take tranquility to a whole new level. Empty cockleshell beaches, fringed by flowering machair and clear blue waters.  Bliss!  And so many fantastic painting opportunities.
