Jane Leitch, Associate Member, SWAcAnimals feature in many of my paintings, but water is also a favourite subject, having lived for many years by the sea. Now I live on the edge of the at-mospheric open spaces of Dartmoor, with its inspira-tional rivers and tors surrounded by the beautiful Devon farmlands, I have an unlimited supply of fu-ture subjects.Jane was born in Kenya in 1948, but was raised in Devon. In 1969, she married an Australian Naval Officer, returning to the UK in 1975. The couple set-tled in Hampshire where Jane began her painting ca-reer. In 2000, Jane moved back to her home county of Devon, where she formed CanzArt, a Tavistock-based group of 15 professional West Country artists, and the Brentor Art Group. Jane currently runs the Manaton Art Group and weekly workshops.Jane has held two 2-man shows and exhibited on numerous occasions with the Society of Women Art-ists and The Wildlife Art Society. Paintings accept-ed at St Barbe, Lymington, Marwell Zoo, The South West Academy, and in 2013 was short-listed for The Pastel Society's Open Exhibition. She was a prize winner in the Derwent Calendar Competition and exhibits annually at Delamore Arts, Cornwood as well as Devon Open Studios.She has featured in 'The Field' and 'Sporting Gun' magazines, the 'Artists & Illustrators around the New Forest and Solent' by Robert Coles and illustrated 'The Sinews of Falconry' by Gordon Robinson.
