Ken Irvin is a largely traditional artist painting in oils, watercolour and pastel and drawing in whatever medium that suits the subject. His subjects are many and varied but are based on reality. However, he is more concerned that the image he produces is about exploring the sensations of light and atmosphere that he felt when he viewed the scene or figure in front of him. Ken’s paintings are his representations of real places and people in a specific time and place. There is no pretension; it is what it is, an arrangement of marks on paper or canvas.
