Rebecca De Mendonca

Rebecca’s dynamic pastel paintings, full of life, energy and movement, have developed throughout a varied career in the arts.An Honours graduate at Wimbledon School of Art, she worked with designers Kevin McCloud and Maria Bjornson, on projects ranging from Harrods Food Hall to Phantom of the Opera.She has illustrated 10 travel books, worked for the BBC, sculpted for Madame Tussauds and exhibited at Covent Garden, the Embassies of the Baltic States and ISTD2 in London.Portrait commissions include leading West End actors. In 2006 Rebecca was invited to work with English National Ballet, producing a series of paintings from rehearsals and performances.Now living in Devon, Rebecca teaches pastel courses both in Britain and Italy, and founded The New Pastel School in 2013 with fellow pastel artist Nel Whatmore. She gives demonstrations and workshops, writes for Leisure Painter Magazine and the SAA, and teaches online.
