Rob Dudley has lived, worked and exhibited in Devon since completing his degree in Fine Art in 1980. Whilst at Exeter College of Art Rob explored the possibilities of drawing towards animation and spent much of his time bringing his black and white drawing of landscape to life in a series of short films. However, although particularly rewarding, he never stopped producing watercolours and was often out around the River Exe making coloured studies that he would work up into more considered pieces back in the studio. His love of light and the effect it has on the landscape or on wide sweeping estuaries is the starting point for much of his work. Working from drawings and photographs made on site he will bring these back to the studio, using them as the initial stages in the development towards more completed works. Although known for his watercolours he has recently been exhibiting some small oil paintings that have been well received. Along with his wife, Siân also an artist, he is a regular contributor to ‘The Artist and Illustrators’ magazine. Recently they have both been filming a series of watercolour lessons for Art Tutor.com that have received much attention worldwide. When not painting Rob spends much of his time writing articles for art magazines and is one of the leading writers behind the BAFTA winning children's TV series‘Shaun the Sheep’.His works have been seen in WMN, on the BBC and held in public and private collections worldwide.
