Abi Higgins is a Ceramic artist who works with porcelain clay and is unusual because she chooses two very different methods of firing her work. The low fired and immediate Raku for decorative work and the long slow high fired reduction for the domestic ware. She finds that the two influence each other in a very positive way making both freer and more experimental. Abi throws most of her pieces on the wheel. She enjoys the concentration and challenge of throwing, and the hand eye coordination as she makes subtle movements to form the beautiful shape of the pot.
