Alison Whateley is a self taught textile artist specialising in appliqué and free motion machine embroidery. Inspired by the natural world around her she produces impressionistic botanical pieces as well as landscapes and seascapes. Colour and texture play a big part in Alison’s work, and she uses a wide range of materials including new fabrics and pre-loved ones. She works with the textiles she finds just as they are, so doesn’t dye fabrics before use nor incorporates paint into her work. Alison is a member of the Devon Artist Network and The Society For Embroidered Work.
