Irena Boobyer is passionate about papercutting and loves to explore pattern and shape using this ancient art form. She is recognised for her intricate papercuts inspired by the natural world and all things botanical. In her series of papercuts, colour provides vibrant echoes of her Devon garden. Floral silhouettes are drawn freehand using a stick dipped in ink on hand-painted Khadi paper. Traditionally trained in art teaching Irena enjoys sharing papercutting techniques by giving talks, demonstrations and workshops to groups and societies. Her work is exhibited widely and she works to commission from her studio in Exmouth.
